Environmental Management

Environmental management is a continuous process. We offer energy-efficiency and environmental-management surveys and related improvement measures according to the needs of the customer. We continually improve our own operations, so that we can offer our customers the best expert knowledge. We keep our customers up-to-date on current issues in the industry (EU, energy-efficiency agreements, environmental certificates, research projects, building regulations, subsidies and grants, etc.). Ovenia is a member of Green Building Suomi ry, and as a result it is developing operations consistent with sustainable development in construction and the use of properties, and it is promoting the introduction of environmental ratings in Finland.

We offer our customers, amongst other things, carbon-footprint reviews, waste-management analyses and co-ordination of LEED environmental-certificate application projects. We also provide expert assistance to other divisions within Ovenia.

            

Ovenia LEED

LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the internationally renowned and respected environmental rating system for the design, construction, use and maintenance of buildings. We maintain many properties that are at various stages of the LEED and BREEAM environmental-rating processes. Our head of maintenance is involved in the certification process and is responsible for the realisation of objectives on an ongoing basis. Environmental management is continuous, and the process does not end once an environmental certificate has been obtained. LEED AP (accredited professional) status begins in 2009.

In the classification, a building is assessed on the basis of various criteria:

• Sustainable land use
• Efficient water usage
• Energy consumption
• Selection of materials and recycling of them
• Quality of indoor air
• Innovations in the design process
